Building your own grill station can be fun and rewarding, as well as cost much less than retail options. Enclosed are my plans and learnings that I included based on my previous table construction efforts.
Learnings
Thin cedar planks used in my first two tables quickly warp and split with a few seasons of aging
Joined joints and or planks with biscuits don’t hold up over time after being exposed to rain, snow, heat etc.
An air gap is essential underneath your Kamado with a thick fireproof stone or tile underneath
Lap joints with 2x4 or 4x4’s and DIY concrete top, while heavy, has been the most durable
Sealing wood with product before assembly is easier than reaching tricky spots once assembled
